Acara MWC 2018 (Mobile World Congress) menjadi acara yang sangat ditunggu-tunggu bagi para pemerhati teknologi gadget dari seluruh dunia. SAMSUNG
Sebagai smartphone paling ditunggu-tunggu di awal tahun 2018, duet Galaxy S9 dan S9 Plus menarik banyak perhatia dan pihak Samsung telah mengumumkan secara resmi smartphone ini akan diperkenalkan di MWC 2018. Sehari sebelumnya, Minggu 25 Februari 2018, smartphone ini telah diperkenalkan dalam acara Unpacked.
Secara tampilan Samsung Galaxy S9 dan S9 Plus sangat mirip dan tidak jauh berbeda dengan kakaknya yaitu Galaxy S8.

Selain duet S9, Samsung juga memperkenalkan DeX Pad, sebuah aksesoris yang memungkinkan pengguna untuk menghubungkan smartphone dengan perangkat lainnya seperti monitor, keyboard, dan mouse.

LG membuat kejutan karena ternyata tidak memperkenalkan smartphone seri G6, tetapi malah memperkenalkan smartphone baru mereka yaitu LG V30S ThinQ dan V30S ThinQ Plus. Smartphone ini adalah varian dari duo flagship mereka yaitu V30 dan V30 Plus.
Sebagai smartphone varian, duet V30S ThinQ ini memiliki desain yang hampir sama dengan duet V30. Spesifikasinya pun tidak jauh berbeda, meskipun ada beberapa peningkatan pada RAM terutama dimana smartphone baru LG ini memiliki kapasitas RAM yang lebih besar daripada V30.

Semua smartphone baru Nokia, kecuali Nokia 1 akan mendapatkan dukungan dari Android One, yang artinya semua smartphone baru Nokia tersebut akan mendapatkan update rutin setiap bulan dan update keamanan. Untuk Nokia 6 2018 Edition yang akan dirilis di Eropa, memiliki dua varian yaitu versi RAM 3 GB dengan storage sebesar 32GB, dan versi RAM 4 GB dengan storage sebesar 64GB.
Selain itu semua spesifikasi Nokia 6 2018 Edition kedua versi tersebut sama, yaitu 5.5 inch screen, Snapdragon 630, dan duet 16 MP kamera utama dan 8 MP kamera depan. Keduanya memiliki harga yang sama pada saat perilisannya yaitu €279 atau kurang lebih Rp 4.6 juta.
Sementara itu Nokia 1 akan dirilis di banyak wilayah yaitu Eropa, Timur Tengah, Afrika, India, Asia Pacific, Australia, dan negara-negara di Amerika Latin pada bulan April. Nokia 1 merupakan smartphone Android Go yang berbasis Android Oreo dengan layar sebesar 4.5 inch IPS display, 1GB RAM dan ruang penyimpanan sebesar 8GB, dengan kamera utama sebesar 5 MP dan kamera depan 2 MP.
Untuk ponsel klasik 8110 atau yang dulu dikenal sebagai ponsel pisang, juga akan mendapatkan sentuhan modern dengan penambahan jaringan 4G. Namun ponsel 8110 4G hanya dirilis secara terbatas di Eropa dengan harga €79 atau kurang lebih Rp 1,3 juta.
HUAWEI
Tidak seperti dugaan sebelumnya, pada acara Mobile Wordl Congress 2018 Huawei tidak memperkenalkan satu smartphone pun, termasuk flagship mereka yaitu P20 Series. Di acara ini Huawei hanya memperkenalkan tablet penerus MediaPad M3, yaitu MediaPad M5 dan sebuah laptop yang digadang-gadang bisa menghadang laju laptop Apple.
Laptop ini, yaitu Matebook X Pro, menggunakan sistem operasi Windows 10 dengan bentang layar sebesar 14 inch. Salah satu fitur menarik dari Matebook X Pro ini adalah webcam yang terdapat di keyboard yaitu ditempatkan diantara tombol F6 dan F7.
ALCATEL
Ajang ini tak melulu milik para pemain besar, karena smartphone lainnya juga telah mempersiapkan diri. Salah satunya adalah Alcatel yang memperkenalkan beberapa smartphone baru yaitu Alcatel 1X, Alcatel 3, Alcatel 3V, Alcatel 3X, and Alcatel 5. Semuanya memiliki rasio layar 18:9. Alcatel seri 1X merupakan smartphone Alcatel yang menggunakan Android Oreo Go Edition, dan merupakan smartpone paling terjangkau dari seluruh smartphone Alcatel yang diperkenalkan di MWC 2018.
ZTE
ZTE juga memperkenalkan beberapa smartphone mereka di ajang ini, yaitu ZTE Blade V9 dan Blade V9 Vita. Selain kedua smartphone tersebut, ZTE juga memperkenalkan smartphone terjangkau terbaru mereka yang menggunakan Android Oreo Go Edition yang diberi nama ZTE Tempo Go.

Sony juga merupakan salah satu merk terkenal yang akan memperkenalkan sebuah smartphone flagship mereka, yaitu Xperia XZ Pro. Smartphone ini bisa jadi merupakan smartphone spesial dari Sony karena merupakan smartphone Sony pertama yang menggunakan dual kamera di bagian belakang.
Selain Xperia XZ Pro, rumor yang santer terdengar dari Sony adalah dua smartphone flagship lainnya yaitu Xperia XZ2 dan Xperia XZ2 Compact. Ketiga smartphone terbaru Sony tersebut akan menggunakan prosesor handal dari Qualcomm, yaitu Snapdragon 845.

LENOVO/MOTOROLA
Sejak diakuisisi Lenovo, Motorola kembali menjelma menjadi salah satu merk smartphone yang banyak mendapatkan perhatian. Dengan spesifikasi yang mumpuni serta desain yang berbeda dengan rata-rata smartphone di pasaran, membuat Motorola ini mampu menarik minat para penggemar smartphone.
Di ajang MWC 2018, Motorola kembali memperkenalkan smartphone anyar mereka, yaitu Moto G6, G6 Play, dan G6 Plus. Sekilas, ketiganya memiliki tampilan yang hampir sama; kaca di bagian belakang, dan kamera besar di bagian belakang. Perbedaannya hanya pada ukuran layar dimana Moto G6 memiliki ukuran layar sebesar 5,7 inch FHD+ dengan baterai berukuran 3,000 mAh dan menggunakan Snapdragon 450.
Sementara Moto G6 Plus memiliki layar berukuran 5.93 inch FHD+ dengan baterai 3,200 mAh dan Snapdragon 630. Khusus untuk Moto G6 Plus akan memiliki model dengan pilihan RAM sebesar 6 GB. Untuk seri Moto G6 Play, layarnya akan berukuran 5.7 inch dengan baterai sebesar 4,000 mAh. Ketiganya memiliki berbagai pilihan warna yang atraktif. Untuk harga saat ini belum ada informasi detail.
ASUS
ASUS juga telah meluncurkan teaser yang mengindikasikan smartphone baru mereka, yaitu ASUS ZenFone 5 Series. ZenFone 5 Series ini merupakan keluarga Zen5 terbaru yaitu ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5 Max, dan ZenFone 5 Lite. Dari berbagai bocoran desain yang banyak beredar, ketiganya memiliki layar 18:9 FullView Display. Dari ketiga Zen5 tersebut, ZenFone 5 ini adalah yang paling banyak menarik perhatian karena desainnya hampir menyerupai iPhone X dengan notch di bagian depan serta penempatan kamera yang vertikal layaknya iPhone X.
Selain itu ada beberapa rumor tentang HTC dan Acer, tetapi belum ada informasi resmi tentang hal itu. Untuk saat ini, beberapa smartphone di atas adalah yang telah diperkenalkan, kecuali Sony, Lenovo/Motorola dan ASUS. Stay tune for updates!
Meskipun telah beberapa lama, pengaruh iPhone X di tengah persaingan smartphone masih terasa sampai sekarang. Dan di awal tahun 2018 ini, smartphone addict dari seluruh dunia akan semakin akrab dengan sesuatu yang akhir-akhir ini sering disebut, yaitu "notch."
Notch balok? Bukan. Hmm..ingat desain iPhone X di bagian atas, ruang yang digunakan untuk menyematkan kamera depan dan lubang sound? Itulah notch. Yang akhir-akhir ini akan sering dijumpai terutama pada smartphone baru.
Apple memang inovator.
Benarkah? Mungkin. Tetapi jika diingat-ingat, Essential Phone pernah merilis smartphone dengan notch kecil dibagian atas untuk menempatkan kamera depan. Sebelum kemunculan iPhone X. Who copy who?

Paling tidak, ada perbedaan antara notch milik Essential dan Apple. Dalam ilmu desain dikenal konsep, "Amati, tiru, kembangkan." Good job, Apple.

ASUS ZenFone 5
Dengan moto #BackTo5 yang santer dikampanyekan menjelang perkenalan keluarga ZenFone 5 series di akhir bulan ini di ajang MWC 2018, desain smartphone ini telah banyak beredar di dunia maya. Khusus untuk ZenFone 5 tanpa embel-embel Lite, Max atau Selfie (jika ada), desainnya memang sangat iPhone X oriented. Lihat saja, notch bagian depan, layar yang (hampir) penuh hingga penempatan dua kamera belakang yang sangat terlihat X.

Tetapi terlepas dari desainnya yang (hampir) identik dengan X, ASUS ZenFone 5 akan diluncurkan dengan sistem operasi Android terbaru yaitu Oreo, dengan dukungan prosesor Snapdragon 845 yang powerful, dan RAM yang kemungkinan sebesar 6 GB. Kemudian dengan desain layar yang seperti itu layar ZenFone 5 memiliki resolusi layar 2,246 x 1080 pixel. Sedikit tidak umum.
HUAWEI P20
Huawei juga berencana merilis penerus smartphone populer mereka, yaitu P10 dengan P20 yang kemungkinan memiliki tiga varian, yaitu Basic, Plus dan Pro. Bocoran desain pertama smartphone ini sempat mencuri perhatian karena triple-camera di bagian belakang. Dan desain bagian depan smartphone ini juga membuat kehebohan karena, ya..mirip dengan si-X. Apalagi kalau bukan di bagian notch-nya.

Salah satu yang diunggulkan dari P20 Series ini juga prosesor mandiri terbaru mereka, yaitu Kirin 970 yang merupakan prosesor flagship mereka. Kemungkinan Huawei akan memperkenalkan keluarga P20 ini di ajang MWC 2018 di akhir bulan Februari 2018 ini.
ULEFONE MIX2
Jika kamu adalah sebuah smartphone yang kurang terkenal, salah satu cara untuk menarik perhatian adalah dengan membuat smartphone yang mirip dengan smartphone populer. Dan Ulefone dengan sangat baik menerapkan teori tersebut. Ulefone, jika dibandingkan dengan kedua merk sebelumnya memang kalah tenar, tetapi jangan salah karena meski kalah tenar Ulefone merasa (cukup) percaya diri dengan merilis smartphone dengan desain yang terinspirasi - jika bukan meniru - iPhone X.

Jika ada merk yang meniru bukan hanya pada desain tetapi juga pada penamaannya, inilah kandidat terbaik. Tetapi merk ini juga menerapkan teori yang sama dengan (mungkin) dipakai oleh Ulefone untuk menarik perhatian. Hasilnya memang lumayan, karena orang-orang mulai tahu bahwa ternyata ada merk ini setelah merilis smartphone yang terinspirasi dari iPhone X. Bukan hanya bagian notch-nya saja karena dual-camera di bagian belakang juga ditempatkan dengan posisi yang sama dengan si-X.
